3 Day Gorilla trekking In Uganda From Kigali

Take in the stunning emerald green hills of Rwanda, known as the "Land of a Thousand Hills," and Uganda, the "Pearl of Africa," as you drive from Kigali city to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The scenic route winds through lush rainforests, past hilltops (watch for volcanoes!), and through peaceful rural villages in the valley, before reaching your lodge at Bwindi. Our guide will pick you up at Kigali International Airport or any location in Kigali city for this transfer. While gorilla trekking is the main highlight of your visit to Bwindi, there are also plenty of other activities to enjoy, such as village walks, cultural tours with the Batwa Pygmies, bird watching, and nature walks. Don’t miss the breathtaking sunsets—make sure to get to the lodge’s veranda in time for sundowners. Upon arrival, check into Orugano Lodge, relax, and in the afternoon, enjoy the beautiful Kahurire Trail trek, where you’ll be treated to amazing views of the forest and surrounding landscapes.

After a hearty breakfast, you’ll embark on a short drive to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest headquarters, where you’ll meet the park rangers, local gorilla trekking guides, and trackers who will lead you into the mountains for your gorilla trek. Before setting off, you'll receive a briefing on gorilla trekking etiquette and be assigned to your gorilla family. The trek begins in the direction of the last sighting of your assigned family. The hike can take anywhere from 1 to 6 hours, and you may ascend to altitudes over 7,500 feet (2,300 meters). The terrain in Bwindi can be muddy and slippery at times, but your experienced guides, trackers, and porters will ensure the pace is comfortable for everyone, with plenty of stops to enjoy the views and snap some photos.

While the trek can be physically demanding, the beauty of the forest and surrounding landscapes makes it all worthwhile. When the gorillas are finally found, all your tiredness fades away as you marvel at these magnificent creatures. You’ll likely witness them enjoying wild celery, grooming each other, or engaging in other fascinating social behaviors. After your gorilla encounter, you’ll return to the lodge for a refreshing shower, a change of clothes, and a well-deserved afternoon of relaxation. Wake up to your final sunrise in this beautiful corner of Uganda and enjoy a delicious breakfast at the lodge. Afterward, our company representative or tour guide will drive you back across the border to Rwanda, ensuring you arrive at Kigali International Airport at least 3 hours before your flight. Please make sure your departure is scheduled for after 4 pm. If your flight is earlier than 4 pm, you'll need to spend an extra night in Kigali, and we’d be happy to assist you with arrangements at an additional cost.
