Tonight, you’ll stay at the iconic Hotel des Mille Collines, a semi-luxury lodge made famous by the moving film Hotel Rwanda. This historic hotel offers comfort, charm, and a deep connection to Rwanda’s past. Unwind with a refreshing drink beneath the African star-filled sky and enjoy a peaceful night’s rest after your journey.

Today, your journey takes you through the breathtaking landscapes along the Virunga Volcanoes to East Africa’s most beautiful rainforests—Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Nestled in the scenic Nkuringo area, your stay at the eco-friendly Orugano Bwindi Lodge offers comfort, tranquility, and panoramic views of the forest and volcanic peaks. Spend the afternoon soaking in the scenery, taking a peaceful nature walk, or joining a community tour to connect with local culture. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, located in the remote southwest corner of Uganda, is one of the best places on Earth for gorilla trekking. Nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas live in this dense forest. The park is also home to over 120 species of mammals and more than 350 bird species, making it a true haven for wildlife lovers.

- Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
This morning, you head into Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for what may be the highlight of your entire journey—gorilla trekking. With a packed lunch from your lodge, you’ll set off on foot into the dense forest, guided by expert rangers from the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA). As you trek through the thick undergrowth, you’ll follow signs left by a gorilla family—broken branches, fresh nests, chewed bamboo, and droppings. Then comes the unforgettable moment: standing just meters away from a massive silverback, calmly watching you while protecting his family. It’s an encounter few ever forget. Instead of the standard trek, you can opt for the Gorilla Habituation Experience. This unique adventure lets you spend up to four hours with a gorilla family, alongside researchers and trackers who are helping them get used to human presence. Group size is limited to just four people, making it an intimate and truly rare experience.

With three nights at Orugano Bwindi Lodge, you have the luxury of time to truly explore this remarkable region. Today offers a range of unforgettable adventures. One incredible option is to canoe on the stunning Lake Mutanda, a serene, lava-dammed lake surrounded by rolling hills and views of the Virunga volcanoes. For the truly adventurous, consider climbing Mount Sabinyo, an extinct volcano rising to 3,669 meters. Sabinyo is famous for its unique summit—stand at the top, and you'll be in Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo all at once! The hike, which takes about 8 hours, is challenging and muddy in places, but wooden ladders have been added to help you climb the three dramatic peaks. The reward? Panoramic views of lakes, forests, and deep gorges stretching across three countries. Another exciting option is the Golden Monkey Trek in nearby Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. These playful and rare monkeys live at the foot of the Virunga volcanoes in habituated groups. The trek is relatively easy, and once in the forest, you’ll spend an hour observing them as they jump, swing, and dash through the trees. Photographing them is a thrilling challenge!

After three unforgettable days in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, today you begin your journey north to Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most diverse and scenic wildlife reserves. The drive takes you along unpaved rural roads, passing local markets, crater lakes, and glimpses of everyday village life—a fascinating window into the heart of Uganda. Your destination is a beautiful lodge with a swimming pool, located right on the edge of the park, offering stunning views and a relaxing atmosphere to unwind after your journey.
Queen Elizabeth National Park, covering nearly 2,000 km², stretches across the Rift Valley floor, with the majestic Rwenzori Mountains to the north and Lake Edward to the west. At its heart lies the Kazinga Channel, a 32-kilometer natural waterway linking Lake Edward and Lake George, where boat safaris offer close-up views of hippos, crocodiles, and a rich array of birdlife. The park’s diverse landscapes include open savannah, acacia woodland, crater lakes, and lush rainforest. To the east, the Kyambura Gorge slices dramatically through the savannah—a hidden world of rainforest where chimpanzees swing through the canopy. Wildlife is abundant here, with chances to spot elephants, buffalo, lions, leopards, topis, hippos, crocodiles, and more. With over 600 bird species, this park is also a true paradise for bird enthusiasts.

Queen Elizabeth National Park is surrounded by Lake Edward and Lake George, which are connected by the natural Kazinga Channel. This channel is full of wildlife, making a boat trip here one of the best experiences in the park. You’ll see many hippos, large crocodiles, bathing buffalo, and a wide variety of birds. Watching a group of elephants spray each other with water is a special moment that shows you’ve had a great day! You’ll enjoy this boat trip on a private boat, which lets you get closer to the animals compared to larger boats. You can also set your own pace and share the experience just with your group. After the boat trip, you’ll travel on unpaved rural roads from Queen Elizabeth National Park to Kibale Forest. There, you’ll have the afternoon to relax at your accommodation. Kibale Forest is one of Africa’s richest rainforests for primates. It is home to 13 different species of monkeys, including red-tailed monkeys, black-and-white colobus, red colobus, diademed monkeys, mangabeys, and galagos. The forest sits at about 1300 meters altitude and is surrounded by tea plantations to the north and papyrus swamps to the south. Besides the monkeys, many special birds live in the forest and nearby Bigodi swamp.

After returning for lunch at your lodge, you can relax on your veranda or take a refreshing swim in the pool. Alternatively, spend your afternoon exploring the nearby Bigodi swamp on a guided walk. This community-run reserve is a great place to spot tropical birds and other monkey species. You can also visit Bigodi Village to experience rural Ugandan life up close.

Today is a beautiful travel day to Murchison Falls National Park. You will drive through tea fields near Fort Portal and pass several villages before arriving. This afternoon, you will take a walk to the top of the waterfall. Murchison Falls is Uganda’s largest game park, split by the mighty Nile River. The landscape changes from dense rainforest in the south to open savannah in the north. Because it sits on the Nile, the park is one of the greenest in Africa. The most amazing sight here is the Nile River squeezing through a narrow gap just seven meters wide and crashing down with incredible power — the Murchison Falls. At the top, you will walk to different viewpoints to see the falls up close and feel the power of the river. If time allows, you can walk down a little to see the full waterfall — a truly stunning view!
- Overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge
- Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Game drives in Murchison Falls focus on the area northwest of the Nile. The green landscape is full of Borassus palms, whose fruits are a favorite of savannah elephants. You will look for animals like Rothschild giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, different antelopes, and many tropical birds. After an early breakfast, you will head to the delta area for a safari. It’s the best time to explore the savannah as the sun rises and the air is cool. On the way, you will stop at the Nile, where hundreds of hippos rest in the sun. After lunch and a swim in the pool, you will take a private boat safari in the afternoon. Slowly sailing down the Nile, you will see crocodiles, hippos, buffaloes, monkeys, and many water birds fishing. Elephants and other animals often come to drink at the riverbank. The boat trip ends at the base of the famous 40-meter-high Murchison Falls. The safari lasts about three hours.
